I've been challenged to join a fellow hospital governor on a sponsored run. Yes, it is only 3km. Yes, it is a fun run. Yes, I used to race half-marathons and finish in the top ten percent. But... This is cross-country. I'm not very fit. There are apparently steep inclines. No one's done it in a wheelchair before.
All good reasons to go ahead then. There will be two other governors who will push me if I get stuck. It would be easier in my cycle-chair but I think that would spoil the point: I want to show that it's possible (or not) for a wheelchair user to join in the fun and complete the course, at the same time as raising money for the hospital. As long as I don't hold up the start of the 10km race while they wait for me to finish. And I will have some toddlers in buggies to keep me company.
I do still need encouragement and incentives: please sponsor me at http://www.justgiving.com/andrew-farrow/ And keep your fingers crossed on 1st November!
