Most of the time I'm pretty positive about having a spinal cord injury. I generally think life could be a lot worse. However, there are times when I feel very down, very desperate. So I was comforted to discover a new website, f***mysci, to support me. It's got the best strapline ("because spinal cord injury sucks") and went live on 30 May. The administrator posted the first entry. It perfectly explains the purpose of the site:
"Welcome to FMySCI.com. We’re glad you found us, but in the same breath, we’re not glad you did, assuming either you or a loved one suffers from one of these terrible injuries. This site is here for you… to vent… to get anything off your chest about how SCI makes different aspects of life miserable.
"Don’t hold back. This is 100% anonymous. Look at the submission page… when posting new entries, we don’t ask for your name, email addy, anything… just brutal honesty."
There's obviously a pent-up demand out there for something like this. Already there are three pages of often heart-breaking and deeply upsetting messages. I'll be adding my own entries soon...
